Following the Insurance Commissioner’s Decision on the Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) September 1, 2021 Regulatory Filing, the WCIRB has issued over 88 percent of the January 2022 experience modifications (X-Mods) that insurers, agents/brokers and policyholders rely on for the January policy renewals.
The following are several tools the WCIRB provides for member insurers and their authorized third-party administrators (TPAs) and managing general agents (MGAs) as well as licensed agencies and brokerages to both access published experience ratings and check the status of a pending X-Mod. Also see the How to Access X-Mods: A Comparison of WCIRB Products chart for various ways to access X-Mods.
Insurer and agent/broker users of WCIRB Connect can view the X-Mod for any policyholder. Authorized users may view and download a PDF of published experience rating worksheets (ratesheets). Insurers are also able to search their own policies for X-Mods that are still pending due to missing data.
Connect users may use X-Mod Direct® to request e-mail notification whenever there is a new or revised X-Mod for a specific policyholder. To set an alert, simply click the "Subscribe to X-Mod Direct" button in the ribbon at the top of the Policyholder Details screen.
Member insurers or their authorized third-party entities may receive ratesheets for their policyholders in a PDF in a single daily ZIP file. This electronic distribution includes an XML companion file that member insurers can use to automatically manage their ratesheets. See the Companion XML File for Experience Rating Worksheets user guide.
This API web service provides member insurers and their authorized TPAs and MGAs as well as licensed agencies and brokerages with real-time, automated retrieval of X-Mods, assigned classification codes, previously reported policyholder names and addresses, FEINs and other information to assist in underwriting workers’ compensation policies in California. See the X-Mods and More Web Service User Guide.
This fee-based data product, available to insurers and registered advisory organizations, contains X-Mods with the corresponding WCIRB assigned classification(s), policyholder name, address and other policy information. It also includes a "does not qualify" (DNQ) indicator for those policyholders that do not meet the eligibility threshold for experience rating. This product is sent via Managed File Transfer (secured) and is available on either a daily or weekly basis. See the Experience Modification Subscription user guide.
